Mount Abu - Hill Station

Simple beauty, delicately styled temples, incarnation of the natural beauty - Mount Abu is one of the renowned Jain pilgrimage locations in India and is the only hills station in the state of Rajasthan, India. Mount Abu, the oasis among the deserts in Rajasthan, is located a height of 1220 meters from sea level and is enclosing a serene and beautiful lake. It is placed at the pinnacle of a granite table peak on Aravalli ranges and is surrounded by thickly populated green forests. The cool and fragrant ambience with rich flora in Mount Abu attracts thousands of tourists every year.

However, now the place is very much sought after for the Natural beauty with which it grips its domestic visitors and the spiritual charm for what it is popular among foreigners. These two are important characteristics of Mount Abu tourism.

Unfortunately, Gujarat does not have a good hill station. Saputara (South Gujarat) is supposed to be in Gujarat geographically, it is closer to Maharashtra. It does not have the climate or infrastructure to be a good hill station. Mt. Abu, officially in the State of Rajasthan, is the favorite destination for a weekend outing for the Gujaratis.

Any season is good to visit Mt Abu, except peak summer. In winters you can enjoy zero degree temperature, in monsoon you can experience clouds passing through your hotel room or through your car. Summers do get hot (35 degree Celsius) these days due to over crowding and commercialization.

1. Dilwara Jain Temples -

Famous for its exceptionally striking architecture and marble carving, Dilwara temple is one of the most beautiful Jain temples in the world. The shrine is adorned with minute statuettes on the walls, gateways, archways, pillars, and panels. If one wants to soak themselves in religious spirits, then they should not miss an excursion to this temple on their tour to Mount Abu.

2. Nakki Lake -

Amidst the green Aravali hills lies the beautiful yet shimmering Naki Lake. This picture perfect lake is surrounded by mountains, gardens and rock formations. The monsoon season is the best time to enjoy the enchanting views of this pool with your loved ones. It is the only Indian artificial lake which is situated at a height of 1200 km above sea level.

As per legends, this lake was made by deities by using nakh's or nails. That is why it is famous by the name of Nakki Lake. Go for boating on this lake, and come back with memories which you will cherish throughout your life

By the beginning and end of the day, these are the best spots to be in. The orange hue is spread across the clear sky as sun slowly rises and gradually dips in the vessel of Valley, as per the hour of the day.

2. Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University

A different way of living life in spiritual peace and universal love is preached in all the centers of Brahma Kumari. The mode of this becomes yoga, meditation and attitude-development classes. The headquarters of this organization is in Mount Abu.

Wildlife Sanctuary:

This sanctuary is a natural habitat of many species of wild animals and birds fauna. The flora and fauna of these wild forests are very attractive and mind blogging for nature lovers and animal and bird lovers. The sanctuary offers shelter to many animals like bears, foxes, wild boar, panthers and sambar deer. It also has varieties of birds including the rare grey jungle fowls.

Although this is a totally different town, situated near the Banas River, Abu road is a must visit. It normally refers to a railway station which is located in a picturesque surrounding. The weather is generally pleasant; however, to enjoy this place to its fullest, one must visit it between November and December.

Achalgarh

The name refers to a fort and an ancient kingdom, which was originally built by the Paramara Dynasty rulers. The fort was reconstructed in 1452 by Maharana Kumbha the ruler of the Mewar kingdom and was renamed as "Achalgarh" or the immovable. The fort however stands in ruins to this day.

Guru Shikar

As mentioned in the prologue, Guru Shikar is the highest point in mount Abu and forms the highest point in the Aravalli mountain range. The place is perfect to get a panoramic view of the whole region and is famous for its temple of Guru Dattatreya an incarnation of the Hindu Deities 'Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva' in one.
